 '아빠하고 나하고' 이건주가 생모와 만나 미소를 찾았다. 22일 방송된 TV조선 '아빠하고 나하고'에서는 배우 겸 무속인 이건주가 2살 때 헤어진 엄마와 44년 만에 상봉했다. 이날 이건주는 "15년 전 어머니와 만날 수 있을 때 내가 거절했다. 지금은 엄마가 날 안 만날 수 있다고 생각한다. 그 선택을 존중해야 한다. 나도 그랬으니까"라며 긴장한 모습을 보였다. 생모의 집 앞까지 찾아간 이건주는 결국 스태프에게 접촉을 부탁했다. 그는 "선뜻 들어가지 못하는 내 자신이 스스로 불쌍했다"며 눈물을 보였다.

 44년 만에 만난 엄마와 아들은 서로를 부둥켜안고 울었다. 엄마는 "진짜 너무너무 보고 싶었다"며 오열했다. 이건주는 "그리움, 속상함, 안도 뭔지 모르겠는데 눈물은 나더라"고 복잡한 기분을 이야기했다. 엄마는 "엄마랑 많이 닮았지? 밥 먹었어? 아픈 데 없고?"라며 평범한 인사를 건넸다. 그러면서 "보고 싶었고 예쁘게 잘 커 줘서 고맙다. 가슴 속에서 잊은 적이 없다. TV로만 만났다. 널 그리면서 울 때도 웃을 때도 있었다"고 말했다. "어머니가 어떤 분인지, 나랑 닮았는지 궁금했다 아무것도 몰랐으니까"라는 이건주에게 엄마는 "엄마가 버리고 갔다고 생각할까봐, 사실은 그게 아니다"라고 강조했다.

 엄마는 "연락처만 알면 만나서 다 털어놓고 싶었다. 널 버린 게 아니다. 어쩔 수 없어서 나온 거다. 이혼 후 건주 데리고 나오고 싶었는데, 외아들이라 안 된다고 했다"며 "같은 동네서 지켜보며 울기만 했다"고 털어놨다. 알고 보니 효자동 한동네에서 살고 있었지만, 만나지 못했던 것. 이건주가 자신의 생일에 김밥 한 줄 먹는 걸 엄마는 "내가 옆에 있었으면 미역국 끓여 줬을 텐데, 밥 한 번 못 해준 게 그게 한이 됐다. 엄마가 이렇게 살아있는데"라며 안타까움을 드러냈다. "가장 해주고 싶은 건 내가 해준 밥"이라는 엄마는 "얼마나 맛있게 먹어줄까. 옆에서 생선도 발라주고 하고 싶다"라고 말했다. 이건주는 "엄마니까 할 수 있는 말이다. 우리 엄마 맞구나 싶더라"고 전했다.

 이건주는 엄마의 자녀들이 자신의 존재를 알고 있다는 사실에 안도했다. 또 닮은 얼굴에 친근함을 드러내기도 했다. 그는 "드라마, 영화 찍을 때나 엄마를 불러봤지 내 엄마를 불러본 건 처음"이라며 남다른 감회를 내비쳤다. 이건주는 15년 만에 엄마와의 오해를 풀었다. 과거 방송에서 "건주 돈 잘 버냐"는 말을 했는지 돌직구로 물어본 것. 엄마는 "나 그런 말 안 했다. 그 소리 듣고 황당하더라"고 해명했다. 이어 "우리 아들 예쁘네. 왜 장가를 안 갈까"라며 엄마의 면모를 보였다. 한편, 이건주는 "엄마 만나자마자 응어리는 사라졌지만 고모 관계처럼 지내는 건 아니"라며 "노력 중"이라고 밝혔다. 김은정 텐아시아 기자 eun@tenasia.co.kr
