 [TV리포트=남금주 기자] 제니가 코첼라 후일담과 블랙핑크 컴백에 대해 밝혔다. 
 7일 방송된 tvN '유 퀴즈 온 더 블럭'(이하 '유퀴즈')에서는 블랙핑크 제니가 등장했다. 
 이날 미국 최대 규모의 음악 페스티벌 '코첼라'에서 첫 솔로 무대를 마치고 돌아온 제니는 준비하면서 느낀 부담감을 고백했다. 제니는 "계속 스스로에 대한 의심이었던 것 같다. 자꾸만 도망갈 곳을 찾는 내 모습이 보이더라. 흔들리는 내 자신을 다른 사람에게 보여주는 것도 스트레스고"라고 밝혔다. 그러나 자신이 노력해온 시간들, 함께 해온 사람들을 믿고 이겨냈다고. 
 양일 제니를 보러 온 관객은 약 25만 명. 제니는 "저도 무대에 보면서도 그 기운에 놀랐다"라며 "왜 이렇게 감정적이었는지 모르겠다. 준비의 '다짐'을 보상받는 느낌이었다. 공연 전엔 '보러 올까?'라고 생각했는데, 위에서 바라보는데 끝이 없었다"라며 벅찼던 감정을 전했다.

 무대에서 "엄마 사랑해"라고 외쳤던 제니는 "안 울려고 약속했다. 막곡인데 엄마가 보고 있으니까 그냥 나왔다. 울부짖는 그 영상만 못 보겠다"며 민망해하기도. 이어 제니는 "엄마 얘기하지 말라고 했다. '엄마 사랑해'를 의도치 않게 많은 분들이 보셔서 아름답게 포장이 됐다. 평범한 모녀인데 너무 큰 관심을 주셔서 오늘은 제 얘기하고 오라고 하셨다"며 엄마와의 무대 후 얘기를 전해 웃음을 안겼다. 엄마 덕분에 어린 시절부터 피부, 모발 관리를 하기도 했다고. 
 10세 때 홀로 뉴질랜드로 유학을 떠난 제니는 "엄마는 더 넓은 세상에서 자라게 하셨던 마음인 것 같다"라고 밝혔다. 6개월 만에 영어를 다 배우고 잘 적응했던 5년간의 유학 생활을 마치고 가수가 되기 위해 한국으로 돌아온 제니. 귀국 후 한 달 만에 YG에서 연습생이 된 제니는 6년간의 연습 기간을 거친 후 21세에 블랙핑크로 데뷔했다. 
 데뷔 3년 만인 2019년부터 월드 투어를 시작한 블랙핑크. 그러나 제니에겐 힘든 시기이기도 했다. 제니는 "첫 솔로곡이 나와서 스케줄이 두 배가 되니 저를 돌볼 시간이 없었다"라며 몸도 마음도 힘들었다고 털어놓았다. 다행히 코로나 때문에 강제 휴식을 취한 제니는 에너지를 다시 채웠고, 15명 회사의 대표가 됐다.

 홀로서기 후 낸 첫 솔로 앨범에 모든 걸 쏟아부은 제니. 15곡 중 7곡을 뮤직비디오로 작업한 제니는 의상에 대해 설명했다. 특히 '젠(ZEN)' 뮤직비디오에 대해선 "제가 한국인이란 자부심 때문에 한국 문화를 담고 싶었다"라며 역사 공부도 했다고 밝혔다. 
 제니는 지금 자신의 모습에 대해 "이 순간을 너무 꿈꿔왔다. 지금껏 가장 성장하고 여유로운 모습이 아닌가"라고 만족스러워했다. 이번 코첼라의 의미에 대해선 "열다섯 제니에게 주는 선물 아닐까. 제가 저한테 줄 수 있는 최고의 선물"이라고 전했다. 
 제니의 얘기를 듣던 유재석은 "귀여운 막내 같은 느낌이었는데, 오늘은 CEO 느낌도 들고, 안에 많은 걸 담고 있었단 생각이 든다"라고 감탄했다. 이후 유재석이 제니를 향해 "정말 멋있다. 글로벌한 인기는 그냥 얻어지는 게 아니다"라고 하자 제니는 유재석에게 "오빠, 저 많이 컸죠? 처음 만났을 때 진짜 어렸잖아요"라고 했다. 그러자 유재석은 "많이 컸다. 깜짝 놀랐다"라고 대견해했다.

 끝으로 제니는 7월 블랙핑크 컴백에 대해 "저도 기대가 된다. 단톡방이 활발하게 돌아가고 있다"라고 말해 기대감을 높였다. 
 한편 블랙핑크는 오는 7월 5일과 6일 고양종합운동장 주경기장에서 '2025 월드투어'를 시작으로 대규모 투어를 앞두고 있다. 최근 제니, 로제, 리사는 '2025 멧 갈라(The 2025 Met Gala)'에 참석해 화제를 모았다.
