 [TV리포트 = 하수나 기자] 트로트 가수 장군이 40년간 무명가수로 활동하며 고생한 어머니를 위해 잘 돼서 엄마의 자랑이 되고 싶다고 털어놨다. 
 26일 MBN '특종세상'에선 효자 가수 장군의 인생스토리가 공개됐다. 트로트 가수 장군은 새벽에 배달일을 하고 있다며 “가수로 데뷔를 하긴 했지만 지금은 가수로서 얻는 수익이 없으니까 수익을 내서 가족에게 보탬이 되어야 하는데 그게 잘 안되니까”라고 털어놨다.  
 네 시간의 배달일을 마치고 동이 틀 무렵에야 집에 들어온 장군. 8년째 처가살이 중이라는 그는 일찍 출근하는 장인의 아침밥을 챙기는 것은 물론 아내와 딸, 장모님의 아침상도 살뜰하게 챙기고 있었다. 아내가 장모님과 분식집 일을 함께 하게 되면서 자연스럽게 장군이 가족들의 상을 차리게 된다는 것. 아내는 시간 맞춰 가족들의 밥을 챙겨주는 남편이 짠하다고 털어놨고 장인과 장모는 사위에 대한 애정을 감추지 못했다. 
 오후에는 행사가 있는 곳을 찾아가 가수로서 무대를 꾸미는 장군. 그는 “어머니가 혼자서 저를 키우셨는데 단 하루도 일을 쉬지 못하셨다. 제가 얼른 좀 잘 돼서 제 타이틀곡처럼 정말 엄마의 자랑이 되고 싶다”라고 털어놨다. 
 행사를 마치고 한 라이브 카페로 향한 그는 그곳에서 노래를 하고 있는 어머니의 모습을 바라봤다. 그는 “저희 어머니가 무명 가수 생활을 40년 넘게 하셨다”라며 “너무 안쓰럽다. 그냥 고생만 하는 엄마였다”라고 애틋한 마음을 드러냈다. 혼자 살고 있는 엄마의 집에서 텅 빈 냉장고를 열어본 그는 한바탕 잔소리 후에 마트를 찾았다. 형광등을 구매해 직접 형광등을 갈아주기도 했다. 장군은 “가까운데 집을 얻어서 모여 살자고 제안했더니 그것보다 혼자 사는 게 좋겠다고 말씀하시더라. 그래서 더 마음이 쓰이고 자주 찾아뵈려고 노력하고 있다”라고 밝혔다.
 장군은 결혼 전까지는 모자가 유일한 가족이었다고. 아버지의 사업체가 부도가 나고 이혼한 후 빚을 떠안게 된 힘든 상황 속에도 어머니 혼자 어렵게 장군을 키우며 살아왔다고 어머니에 대한 애틋함을 드러냈다.

 장군은 선배 가수인 임주리와 만나 아버지와 천륜을 끊은 가슴 아픈 사연을 고백했다. 그는 “제 아버지가 (어머니와 저에게)나쁜 행동들을 많이 하지 않았나. 얼마 전에 방송 보시고 ‘잘보고 있다’라며 아버지에게서 연락이 왔다. 그러면서 말미에 어머니 전번 좀 알려달라고 하더라. 어차피 저한테 상처를 주고 어머니한테 상처를 주고 살아오신 분인데 갑자기 어머니 번호 알려달라고 하니 미치겠더라”고 고민을 털어놨다. 이에 임주리는 “아빠가 자기 역할도 못하면서 기본적인 양심도 안 되는 거다”라고 대신 분노하며 장군에게 애정 어린 조언을 전했다.
 그런 가운데 친아버지 때문에 현재도 경제적으로, 심적으로 고충이 심하다는 장군은 “친아버지께서 제 차를 가지고 가서 과속 과태료, 주정차 과태료는 물론 대출까지 받으셨다. 그 빚은 고스란히 저희 어머니께서 떠 앉게 됐다“라고 답답함을 감추지 못했다. 
 결국 어머니를 찾아간 그는 아버지를 만나 담판을 짓겠다고 했지만 어머니는 싸움만 날 뿐이라고 말렸고 이 일로 모자의 갈등이 이어졌다. 그러나 방송말미엔 장군이 어머니에게 효도하는 아들이 되겠다며 어머니를 위한 깜짝 무대를 선사하며 어머니의 감동 눈물을 자아냈다.
