 아이돌그룹 TWS(투어스)가 일본의 여름을 청량한 빛깔로 물들인다. TWS(신유, 도훈, 영재, 한진, 지훈, 경민)는 2일 일본 첫 번째 싱글 ‘Nice to see you again(원제 はじめまして/하지메마시테)’을 발매했다. 같은 날 오후 일본 도쿄에서 데뷔 쇼케이스를 개최하고 본격적인 현지 활동에 나선다. 신보에는 TWS 독자 장르인 ‘보이후드 팝(Boyhood Pop)’의 정수가 담겼다. ‘Nice to see you again’은 여름날의 반짝이는 추억처럼 일상 속 특별한 설렘을 선사하는 작품이다. 동명의 타이틀곡은 ‘너’와 ‘나’가 아닌 ‘우리’라는 관계를 통해 또 다른 시작을 꿈꾸는 노랫말로 청춘 시절의 풋풋한 감성을 자극한다. 팀의 특장점인 청량한 사운드와 경쾌한 퍼포먼스를 살려 누구나 편안하게 즐길 수 있도록 했다. ‘BLOOM (feat. Ayumu Imazu)’은 인기 아티스트 아유무 이마즈가 작사, 작곡은 물론 피처링까지 참여해 힘을 보탰다. 이 곡은 7월부터 방송되는 일본 TV 애니메이션 ‘못난이에게 꽃다발을’의 오프닝 테마곡으로도 발탁됐다. 여기에 2024년 멜론 연간차트 1위에 빛나는 국내 데뷔곡 ‘첫 만남은 계획대로 되지 않아’의 일본어 버전 ‘plot twist -Japanese ver.-’까지 총 세 곡이 수록됐다.

 음원 차트를 휩쓴 대형 신인 일본 진출에 현지 기대감이 상당하다. 지난달 30일 타이틀곡 뮤직비디오 공개 직후 일본 지역 X(옛 트위터) 실시간 트렌드에는 ‘TWS짱(ちゃん·chan, 친근감을 담아 부르는 호칭)’, ‘일본 데뷔’ 등 키워드가 순위권에 올랐다. 같은 날 출연한 TBS ‘CDTV 라이브! 라이브!’ 무대 직후에도 ‘CDTV 라이브! 라이브!’, 무대 풀버전을 의미하는 ‘풀사이즈’ 등 TWS 관련 키워드가 상단에 자리했다. ‘CDTV 라이브! 라이브!’에서 타이틀곡 무대를 본 시청자들은 “슈퍼 루키라는 단어에 부합하는 완벽한 라이브”, “역시 믿고 보는 TWS의 퍼포먼스였다”, “반짝 반짝 빛나는 청량 그 자체의 무대”라며 호평을 쏟아냈다.

 TWS는 3일 니혼TV 정보 버라이어티 ‘데이데이(Dayday.)’, 5일 니혼TV 여름 특집 음악방송 ‘더 뮤직 데이 2025(THE MUSIC DAY 2025)’등 지상파 인기 프로그램에 연달아 출연한다. 이후 7월 11일부터 일본 6개 도시에서 총 13회에 걸쳐 첫 투어 ‘2025 TWS TOUR ‘24/7:WITH:US’ IN JAPAN’을 진행한다. 손봉석 기자 paulsohn@kyunghyang.com
