 [TV리포트=이혜미 기자] 개그우먼 이경실이 교도관 출신 아버지의 이른 은퇴와 건강 악화로 가난한 어린 시절을 보냈다며 관련 사연을 소개했다.
 21일 TV조선 ‘조선의 사랑꾼’에선 이경실 손보승 모자의 이야기가 펼쳐졌다.
 이날 이경실은 아들 손보승의 입대에 앞서 친정인 군산을 찾았다. 지난 1984년 대학생이 되면서 서울에 상경했다는 이경실은 “처음 서울에 와서 대학생활을 하다가 한 달 만에 군산에 내려갔는데 숨이 크게 쉬어지면서 ‘역시 군산이 좋다’란 생각이 들었다”라고 당시를 회상했다.
 “그때 그 느낌이 지금도 생생하다. 그렇게 서러운 것도 없었는데 괜히 서러움이 터지는 느낌이었다”라는 것이 이경실의 설명.

 1남 4녀 5남매의 막내로 어려운 어린 시절을 보냈다는 이경실은 “군산에 유명한 빵집이 있는데 우리 집은 형편이 어려웠기 때문에 그 빵집에 가지 못했다. 그래서 그게 한이 됐다”라고 털어놨다.
 이어 “그때 우리 아버지가 교도관이었는데 50세에 정년퇴임을 하셨다. 당시 내 나이가 13살이었다”며 “그 전까진 그런대로 살림이 괜찮았는데 중학생이 되고부터 ‘우리 집은 왜 이렇게 가난하지?’라는 걸 느꼈다”라고 고백했다.
 이경실은 또 “수업료를 못 내서 선생님에게 구박도 받았는데 그게 너무 자존심이 상했던 거다. 그래서 중1의 나이에 뇌막염으로 병원 입원을 했다. 정말 소설 같은 이야기”라고 자조했다.

 시련은 여기서 끝이 아니었다. 이경실은 아버지의 오랜 투병으로 가족 모두 힘든 시간을 보냈다며 “내가 중3때 아버지가 두 번이나 쓰러지셨다. 그때부터 집에선 항상 환자의 냄새가 났다”라고 과거를 돌아봤다.
 나아가 “당시 어머니는 익산의 학교에서 매점을 운영하고 계셨다. 그렇기에 군산과 익산을 오가며 대소변을 다 받아내고 아버지를 간호하셨다. 그렇게 고생을 하셨다”라고 전했다.
 그는 “그런 상황에도 어머니는 나에 대한 전폭적인 지지를 해주셨고, 어머니가 있었기에 나는 대학에 갈 수 있었다”며 “난 지금도 그 빵집에 가면 빵을 한 가득 사온다. 그때 못 먹은 한이 있다”라고 고백했다.
