[BIC 2025] 특이해서 볼만하네, 개성있는 그래픽을 가진 인디 게임들

 지난 8월 15일부터 17일까지 부산 벡스코에서 진행중인 국내 최대 인디게임 축제 BIC 2025에서, 한국에서 좀처럼 볼 수 없는 특이한 그래픽을 뽐내는 게임들을 찾아볼 수 있었다. 
 과거 80년대와 90년대 EGA 그래픽으로 꾸며진듯한 게임, 귀여운 보드 게임의 말판 같은 느낌을 주는 게임, 시점이 자유자재로 변화되어 단순하지만 생동감을 주는 게임 등 개성 만점인 인디 게임들이 대거 전시되면서 글로벌 최대 인디 게임 축제를 꿈꾸는 BIC 2025에 대한 의미도 더욱 깊어지는 모양새다. 딱 보기에도 특이했던 그래픽을 갖춘 게임을 소개해 본다.

 시점을 바꾸면 세상이 변한다는 것을 모토로 하는 퍼즐-액션 플랫포머 게임이다. 다양한 시각적 변화를 보여주는 게임으로 시점 변화를 주어 세상을 바라보는 방식을 바꾸도록 유도한다. 처음에는 아주 단순한 흑과 백의 2D 그래픽으로 시작하지만, 약간의 입체감을 주어 나아가다 아예 풀 3D로 전환되는 등 여러가지 게임을 색다르게 즐길 수 있는 게임이다. 현재 스팀에 데모 버전이 출시되어 있다.

 단순하지만 매력적인 그래픽

 과거 닌텐도의 휴대용 게임기 게임보이 컬러같은 느낌의 단순한 그래픽을 가지고 있지만 그만큼 유니크하고 독특한 느낌으로 시연대에 오른 게임.
 “오늘은 어떤 영화를 빌려가시겠어요?”라는 주제처럼 손님에게 귀를 기울이며 비디오 가게를 운영하는 게임이다. 비디오 가게에 방문한 고객의 요구에 맞춰 비디오를 추천해 주는 타이쿤 스타일의 게임으로 화면 내의 여러 힌트를 파악하고 고객의 니즈에 맞게 설정하는 게임이다.

 90년대에 IBM PC에서 유행하던 포인트앤 클릭 어드벤처 게임이다. 미국 개발사인 Quail Button에서 개발한 게임으로, 스누피 같으 느낌의 그래픽이 강하게 묻어난다.
 아주 내향적인 기린이 사회에서 사람들과 엮이지 않고 일상을 보내기 위해 고군분투하는 내용으로, 주변 사물과 상호작용해 창의적인 방법으로 문제를 해결하는 것이 포인트인 게임이다. 과거 미국 아동용 애니메이션을 보는 듯한 느낌으로 게임을 즐길 수 있다.

 귀여운 보드 게임을 말처럼 서정적인 느낌의 캐릭터 그래픽 디자인을 갖춘 게임. AI를 활용하여 플레이어의 목소리에 반응하여 그 세기에 따라 점프의 강도가 달라지는 등 새로운 시도를 한 게임이다. 명지대학교 4학년 학생들이 서정적이고 독특한 그래픽과 함께 음성 인식 기능과 퍼즐 액션을 융합시킨 게임으로, 실험적인 느낌이 강하다.
