‘서정희 딸’ 서동주, 13살 美 유학길 오른 이유 “한국 너무 힘들어”

          <p contents-hash="c232a5965671bf43f882a050057a7862d20e47e4876f4935de1f2b52a012a343" dmcf-pid="8ShXra1mht" dmcf-ptype="general">서동주는 지난 8월 21일 자신의 채널을 통해 "하고 싶은 게 없어서 ‘일단 공부만 했어요'"라는 제목의 영상을 공개했다.</p>
          <p contents-hash="8e692a522e1726101e990999f07cb9deba27889d2fea064cc078a08c2591bf0e" dmcf-pid="6vlZmNtsC1" dmcf-ptype="general">웰즐리 칼리지 미대, MIT 공대, 와튼 대학원, 로스쿨 등 출신인 서동주는 "97년도 13살에 유학을 갔다. 한국 생활이 너무나 힘들었다"고 회상하면서 "공부를 너무 많이 했다. 과외다 뭐다 바쁜 생활을 하고 있어서, 미국에 가면 노는 줄 알았다. 미국 아이들처럼 뛰놀고 싶다는 생각으로 갔다"고 말했다.</p>
          <p contents-hash="752c32d2752b181ca307f290b06c609ed393438ec1d3cf4d805cf2c70765c9c9" dmcf-pid="PTS5sjFOy5" dmcf-ptype="general">또, 웰즐리 칼리지 미대에서 MIT 공대로 편입했을 당시를 회상한 그는 "웰즐리 출신은 예쁘다는 게 있어서 그걸 이어가고 싶었다. 항상 풀메이크업을 하고, 미니 스커트를 입고, 키우던 말티즈를 가방에 넣고 다녔다. '쟤 아시안 패리스 힐튼이냐' 반 조롱을 당했다"고 떠올렸다.</p>
          <p contents-hash="1a079c9e7cc68b41eb13904a9215f121263a290d1470c34900118507fd8705d6" dmcf-pid="Qyv1OA3IlZ" dmcf-ptype="general">그러면서 서동주는 "내가 뭘 해야될지 모르면 공부를 해놓으면 잃을 게 없다. 공부만큼은 후회되는 게 거의 없다. 공부를 잘해서 손해 본다? 좋은 학교 가서 손해 본다? 이런 거 없다"고 강조했다. </p>
