 윤가이는 최근 방송된 MBC 금토드라마 '메리 킬즈 피플'(기획 권성창/연출 박준우/극본 이수아/제작 미스터로맨스, 무빙픽쳐스컴퍼니, 스튜디오 안자일렌)에서 쌍둥이 오빠의 조력 사망을 의뢰한 '최예나' 역을 연기했다. 
 어린 시절 교통사고로 어머니를 여읜 최예나는 알코올 중독인 아버지 밑에서, 쌍둥이 오빠인 최건수(강기둥 분)와 의지하며 지냈다. 그러나 최건수가 유전병인 낭성섬유증을 앓게 되면서 오빠의 병원비는 온전히 최예나의 몫이 됐다. 녹록지 않은 현실에 최예나는 결국 사채에까지 손을 벌리게 됐다.

 이 가운데, 최건수의 상태가 급속도로 나빠지면서 응급실을 찾았다. 최건수는 우소정(이보영 분)과 최예나를 차례로 찾아 조력 사망을 의뢰했다. 최예나는 "내가 지금까지 어떻게 살았는데, 우리 지금까지 어떻게 살았는데 니 내한테 그럴 수 있나?"라며 울분을 터트렸다. 자신의 유일한 피난처인 오빠를 잃는다는 생각에 최예나는 절망했다. 최예나는 "내 니랑 오래오래 행복하게 사는 게, 그게 소원이라고 했잖아"라고 진심을 전했다. 
 극구 반대만 하던 최예나는 오빠의 고통과 마주한 뒤, 결국 조력 사망을 진행하는 것에 동의했다. 나아가 최예나는 오빠가 생전 만나고 싶던 사람들과 마지막으로 얼굴 보고 인사를 할 수 있도록, '생전 장례식'을 제안했다.

 최예나와 최건수는 그 어느 때보다 환한 미소로 유쾌하게 사람들을 맞이했다. 이어 최예나는 최건수와 함께 무대에 올라 박정운의 '먼 훗날에'를 불렀다. 눈물이 맺힌 채 오빠를 바라보는 최예나의 얼굴에는 웃음, 슬픔, 후회 등 다양한 감정이 공존했다. 쌍둥이 남매의 마음을 고스란히 옮겨놓은 듯한 노랫말 역시 감동을 안긴 가운데, 담담한 척하던 최예나는 자신의 품에서 오빠를 떠나보내며 참았던 눈물을 터뜨렸다. 
 이렇듯 윤가이는 세상의 전부인 쌍둥이 오빠를 위한 헌신과 희생을 절절히 녹여낸 오열 연기로 안방극장에 깊은 여운을 남겼다. 특히, 윤가이는 오빠를 위해 사채업자들과 용감히 맞서는 데 이어, 오빠의 조력 사망 부탁에 혼란스러운 감정을 분출하는 등 폭넓은 스펙트럼을 엿볼 수 있는 연기로 극에 풍성함을 더했다. 
 한편, 윤가이가 출연하는 MBC '메리 킬즈 피플'은 매주 금, 토요일 밤 10시에 방송된다.
