'귀신을 사고파는 금지된 시장'을 뜻하는 세계관으로, 오랜시간 아시아 문화권에서 전해 내려온 괴담과 맞닿아 '현실에 존재했을지도 모른다'는 상상력을 자극한다. 실제 한국에서 시작해 베트남에서 끝나는 귀시의 연결고리는 K-호러 세계관의 본격적인 확장을 알린다. </p>

            공개 된 '귀시'는 옴니버스 형식으로 얽히고설킨 인물들 각각의 다양한 욕망과 탐욕이 어디까지 스스로를 벼랑 끝으로 내몰 수 있는지, 그리고 저주로 이어질 수 있는지 섬뜩함을 자아낸다. 돈, 미모, 사교육, 성과 그리고 재미로 간주되는 농락의 호기심은 악령에게 제 목숨을 알아서 내놓는 것이나 다름 없다는 걸 보여준다.

          <p contents-hash="7fb502c0f55dc76f1457dc8137ab168bf8816114ce8c636cb0e57f80ee341774" dmcf-pid="9FMMpkGk0U" dmcf-ptype="general">홍원기 감독은 "명확한 세계관을 구축하고 싶어 '귀신 시장'이라는 모티브를 정했다. 사람들의 욕망을 살 수 있는 시장으로, 욕망 자체를 귀신으로 표현해 살 수 있는 세계관을 만들었다"며 "옴니버스처럼 보이지만 유기적으로 연결되는 에피소드들을 통해 서로 다른 욕망을 보여주고 싶었고, 베트남에서도 귀시에 들어갈 수 있다는 것을 담아내고자 했다. 현지 로케이션은 40도가 넘는 더위에 열심히 촬영했다"고 밝혔다. </p>

            특히 최근 공개 된 대부분의 공포 장르 영화가 신인배우 혹은 여배우를 중심으로 제작되는데 반해, '귀시'는 유재명 문채원 서영희 원현준 등 기성 배우들이 든든하게 힘을 보태 신뢰를 더한다. 특히 2018년 '명당' 이후 무려 7년 만에 스크린에 복귀하는 문채원은 역대급 미모가 공포가 아닌가 싶을 정도로 등장할 때마다 놀라운 감탄사를 터지게 만든다.

          <p contents-hash="e186e537691b9040c26dbb032014ba26e506d34f76cb29b7714ca2c6d3a6885f" dmcf-pid="8uiiqm1m3t" dmcf-ptype="general">범인을 잡는데 승부욕을 띄우다 기묘한 공간을 발견하게 되는 순경으로 분한 유재명은 "촬영 전 감독님께 많은 질문을 했다. 꽃의 의미, 귀시의 상징, 공간의 의미, 괴물의 정체 등 무수히 많은 기괴한 이미지들을 실제로 보면서 촬영 컷을 하면 밖으로 나가 환기 시켰던 기억이 난다. 상징적인 공간이지만 최대한 사실적인 느낌을 가지려 노력했고, 색다른 경험이자 처음 느껴보는 작업적 감정이었다"고 회상했다. </p>

            평소 공포를 잘 즐기지는 않는다는 문채원은 "그간 이런 장르에 도전해본 적이 없고, 제안을 주신 적도 특별히 없었다. 그래서 저에게도, 관객 분들에게도 새로운 경험이 될 수 있을 것 같았다"며 "촬영 자체를 3~4회차 정도에 다 끝내 캐릭터 준비를 할 시간이 많았던 건 아니지만, 외모에 욕망을 느끼는 캐릭터는 보여지는 직업을 가진 저로서 공감이 어렵지는 않았다. 나만 느끼는 욕망을 표현하기 위해 노력했다"고 설명했다.

          <p contents-hash="00f9c5fafa129f399d02224e55860f9c66ae8bc3a3a9a3ef4799c4ae38c3b1a2" dmcf-pid="H5PPFjyj7y" dmcf-ptype="general">반면 공포가 체질 서영희는 "공포 장르에 자주 등장하다 보니 오히려 부담감이 더 있었다. 이번 영화에서 조금 더 새로운 모습을 보여주고 싶기는 했는데 엄마로서의 처절함이 제 포인트였던 것 같다"며 "'공부를 저렇게까지 열심히 해야 할까. 엄마도 저렇게 최선을 다해야 할까' 현실과 연결되는 의문과 슬픔이 있었다. 공부하는 모든 학생들, 학부모님들 다 힘내시기를 바란다"고 응원해 눈길을 끌었다. </p>

            솔라와 배수민은 '귀시'를 통해 스크린 데뷔 신고식을 치른다. 문채원과 달리 공포 마니아라는 솔라는 "공포 영화를 정말 정말 좋아한다. 잘 때도 공포 이야기를 들으면서 잘 정도다. 그래서 처음 이 작품에 대해 들었을 때 너무 흥분되고 떨리고 기대가 됐다"며 "공포 영화를 제 첫 영화로 찍게 된 것이 인생의 큰 행운이 아닐까 싶기도 하다. 감독님, 멋진 배우 분들과 함께 할 수 있어 더 뜻깊었다"고 밝혔다.

          <p contents-hash="631397277e732055bf7b1c3c95e2b974e9e6200a368f40dd3f4c6da1139b7011" dmcf-pid="0UJJzr5rpO" dmcf-ptype="general">수험생으로 분한 배수민은 "제가 실제로 학생 시절을 겪은지 얼마 안됐다 보니까 친구들 생각도 많이 했고, 평소 어떤 대화를 했고, 일상 생활을 보냈는지 많이 떠올렸다"고 말했고, 베트남에 직접 방문해 현지 배우들과 보름동안 촬영에 임한 손주연은 "진짜 유학을 간 것처럼 즐겁게 촬영했다. 배우들과 영어로 대화를 하게 돼서 이번 영화로 인해 영어 실력이 월등히 늘었다고 말씀 드리고 싶다"고 자랑했다. </p>

            또한 문채원과 액션에 가까운 육탄전을 펼친 서지수는 "액션신이 처음이라 걱정을 많이 했는데 선배님이 워낙 다정하게 잘 이끌어주셔서 재미있게 촬영했다. 선배님을 보면서 더 열심히 하게 됐다"며 감사 인사를 남겼고, 유재명과 호흡 맞춘 차선우는 "캐릭터도 후배 경찰이라 선배님을 열심히 따라가면 됐다. 많이 배웠고, 시키는 것을 잘했다"고 귀띔해 좌중을 폭소케 했다.
